Investigation Continues Into Fatal Shooting That Occurred Inside A Panther Valley Home

Allamuchy Twp, NJ (Warren County) – No further information will be released until the investigations are complete, that’s according to Warren County Prosecutor Richard Burke.

It was on March 19 at 4 a.m. when the New Jersey State Police were dispatched, to a home on Alexander Road in the Panther Valley Section of Allamuchy Twp, NJ, for a report of a sexual assault and shooting.

The victim, later identified as Gage Theard,24, from Milton, Florida, was struck in the upper torso by two rounds from a 9 mm handgun and was found on the home’s second floor landing, according to Burke.

The female, who called police, allegedly told officers on scene that she “shot” the victim, according to radio reports that morning.

Authorities said Theard was attending U.S. Navy flight school. The chapel at Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, Florida posted photos on their Facebook page of a memorial service held on April 1 for Theard.

“Yesterday was a great time of healing and remembrance for our brother, ENS Gage Theard! Father God, may Your healing hand continue to expand the peace of our hearts through Your Spirit in the midst of our loss! It’s in Christ Jesus’ name this prayer is lifted, Amen,” the Facebook post read.

Theard’s connection to the area is still unclear and the shooter’s identity still has not be released. Prosecutor Burke previously said a suspect had been identified but not charged.

The U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the New Jersey State Police and the Warren County prosecutor’s office are investigating the incident. At that point, the office will review the case and determine if any charges will be sent to a grand jury, according to Burke.
