Labor Day 2016: What’s open, what’s closed

Today is a federal holiday, so there are a number of offices and businesses that may be closed. Here’s a guide to help you get through your Labor Day.

There will be no mail delivered today. UPS and FedEx workers will also take the day off from deliveries.

All local bank branches are closed today, including TD Bank, Wells Fargo and PNC. All list the day as a bank holiday.

The financial and stock markets are closed today.

All courts, federal, state and local, are closed today.

Schools and colleges are closed.

If your looking for a holiday weekend deal, all the malls will be open. However, some note holiday hours, so you should call ahead for hours. If you need something from the food store, check with your local store before heading out. Some say the holiday could affect hours, but may vary by store.

New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission facilities and inspection stations are closed. In addition, all other state agencies will be closed to start the week.

PATH trains will operate on a Saturday schedule. Amtrak trains will run on Sunday schedules.

NJ Transit will operate on a holiday or special service schedule. Riders are urged to use NJ Transit’s online trip planner to double-check arrival and departure times.
