High winds down wires, topple utility poles in Hackettstown (PHOTOS)

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – High winds blew through the Hackettstown area, causing utility poles, trees and wires to come down as well as road closures.

Willow Grove St between Cindy Terrace and Connie Terrace was closed Thursday morning after a utility pole was snapped at the top. The roadway was reopened by 11:40 a.m., police said.

The power outage caused Willow Grove School to be closed and all students reported to Hatchery Hill School for the day. Hackettstown had 714 JCP&L customers without power during the morning and most were restored by 10:00 a.m.

Seber Road is closed at Willow Grove St due to a pine tree that took down wires, a transformer and damaged multiple utility poles.

As of 2:00 p.m., JCP&L is reporting 37 customers are without power in this area and the estimated time of restoration is 4:30 p.m.

Cook St is closed between East Plane St and Ashley Ave due to downed wires.

To report a power outage to JCP&L call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).
