Pa. man indicted in assault on N.J. state trooper in Hunterdon County

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Roudy Jerome, 24, of Reading, Pa., was indicted on charges he assaulted a state trooper in December, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III said on Monday.

Jerome was indicted by a Hunterdon County Grand Jury on March 30 for third-degree resisting arrest and fourth-degree aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, Kearns said.

On December 22, 2016, Jerome was stopped by a New Jersey State Trooper on Interstate 78, in Clinton Township, for a motor vehicle violation, Kearns said.

After being placed under arrest for possession of marijuana, Jerome resisted arrest and physically assaulted the trooper, Kearns said.

Jerome was charged with resisting arrest and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. The trooper was treated for minor injuries, Kearns said.
