Scooter driver charged with possession of heroin in Washington Borough

WASHINGTON BOROUGH, NJ (Warren County) – A Hudson County man driving a moped scooter is facing drug charges after cops stopped him on Sunday afternoon.

At 3:40 p.m., a Washington Township police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop of a moped scooter on Route 31 north in Washington Borough for an equipment violation, police said.

The driver was identified by police as Anthony Boutilette, 34, of Kearny, NJ.

A police investigation resulted in the arrest of Boutilette for possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin and tampering with evidence, police said.

Boutilette was processed, issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear a helmet, failure to wear goggles, unlicensed driver, unregistered motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, driving with a suspended driver’s license and possession of heroin in a motor vehicle.

Boutilette was lodged in the Warren County Jail.
