Sussex County man pleads guilty in beer bottle assault

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man has entered a guilty plea to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for an incident that occurred in Sussex, NJ, prosecutor’s office said.

Michael Davenport, 23, of Ogdensburg, NJ pleaded guilty to third-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and violation of probation before the Honorable William J. McGovern, III, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton on Monday, prosecutor’s office said.

Davenport allegedly admitted to hitting the victim over the head with a beer bottle causing injury after a dispute at the Fountain Square Inn in Sussex, prosecutor’s office said.

Sentencing is presently scheduled for December 8, 2017.
