Two hurt in Mountain Ave crash in Hackettstown

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – Two people were injured in a car crash that closed multiple lanes of Mountain Ave on Wednesday.

At 7:55 a.m., town police responded to Mountain Ave in front of McDonald’s for a report of a motor vehicle crash, police said.

A police investigation determined that Valadean Smith, 51, of Columbia, NJ was traveling north in a 2010 Dodge, on Mountain Ave, when Smith attempted to make a left hand turn into the McDonald’s parking lot, police said.

Smith was then struck by a 2000 Toyota driven by a 17-year-old female of Belvidere, NJ, police said.

Both drivers complained of chest pain and were transported to Hackettstown Medical Center.

Two southbound lanes and one northbound lane were closed for approximately 1 hour. Smith was issued a summons for careless driving.

Assisting at the scene was the Hackettstown Rescue Squad, Hackettstown Fire Department, Mansfield Township Rescue Squad and St Clare’s Paramedics.
