County Under State of Emergency, Shelters Yet To Open

INDEPENDENCE — As the wrath of Hurricane Sandy is felt throughout the area Monday, officials are bracing for the worst as the storm progresses up the coast. Conditions are expected to worsen.
All schools in the area are closed today and many are already planning to cancel classes tomorrow, click here for a complete list.
Governor Chris Christie urged all drivers to stay off the road and declared a Federal Emergency for New Jersey to access additional federal funding.
The Lord’s Pantry will be open today but closed tomorrow and if needed Hackettstown will open a shelter. No word when that announcement will come.
According to the Express-Times, designated shelter locations include the Good Will Fire Company, 689 Water Street, Belvidere, where there is a Red Cross presence. Other shelter locations include Phillipsburg High School, 200 Hillcrest Boulevard, Phillipsburg and North Warren Regional High School, 10 Noe Road, Blairstown.
