HACKETTSTOWN — A Hackettstown First Aid & Rescue Squard Line Officer was taken into custody after allegedly responding to an emergency call drunk last night.

Cops say 39-year-old James Rigney of Hackettstown drove past the emergency location and later entered the complex the wrong way.

Rigney allegedly smelled of alcohol and refused sobriety tests when police questioned him.

The Hackettstown man was charged with driving under the influence in a school zone and careless driving, among other things.

Word came late Wednesday that Rigney tendered his resignation.
