1 dead, 1 injured in head-on crash in Sussex County

FRANKFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – One person is dead and another is injured following a head-on crash in Sussex County Thursday morning, state police said.

The crash happened at 11:32 a.m. on County Route 565 at mile post 3.2, state police said.

According to state police, a Chevy, driven by a 37-year-old woman, was travelling north on County Route 565 when her vehicle crossed over into the southbound lane and struck a Toyota SUV, driven by a 77-year-old woman, head-on.

The driver of the Chevy sustained moderate injuries but were non-life threatening and was transported to Saint Clare’s Denville Hospital, state police said.

The driver of the Toyota was transported to Newton Medical Center where she died from her injuries, state police said.

The names were not released and the crash remains under investigation.
