BLAIRSTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – One person was killed and another was injured after a crash on Interstate 80 in Blairstown Township Friday evening according to State Police spokesman Trooper Alejandro Goez.
The crash happened westbound at mile marker 8.8 at 5:59 p.m., Goez said.
According to Goez, Latifah Salahuddin, 26, of Carteret was travelling westbound in a 2012 Toyota Carolla when she struck a 2008 Toyota driven by Jamie Wetzel, 42, of Kunkletown, PA. Salahuddin’s vehicle then went off the roadway and struck a tree.
Salahuddin suffered serious injuries and was transported to Pocono Medical Center. She was pronounced dead at 8:40 p.m, Goez said.
Wetzel suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Goez said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Goez said.
The left and center lanes were closed for two and a half hours.
