1 dead, 3 injured after crash on I-80 in Morris County, state police say

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, NJ (Morris County) – The New Jersey State Police said a Bergen County man died and three others were injured early Sunday morning in a crash on Interstate 80 in Morris County.

The crash happened at 2:41 a.m. on Interstate 80 westbound at milepost 43.8 in Parsippany-Troy Hills, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Philip Curry.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Corvette, driven by Luis Ramirez-Cano, 29, of Bogota, was traveling north on Interstate 287 and then entered Interstate 80 westbound via a ramp from Interstate 287 and was struck by a Lexus RX3, Curry said.

Ramirez-Cano was ejected from the car and suffered fatal injuries. The passenger in the Corvette suffered unknown injuries and was transported to Morristown Medical Center, Curry said.

The driver of the Lexus suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention. The passenger in the Lexus suffered minor non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Saint Clare’s Denville, Curry said.

The crash remains under investigation, Curry said.
