
1 dead, 5 injured in head-on crash in Warren County
UPDATE: Driver ID’d in fatal head-on crash in Warren County
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – One person was killed and five others were hurt Sunday night in a head-on crash on Route 46 in Liberty Township, New Jersey State Police Sergeant Lawrence Peele said.
The crash happened at around 11:06 p.m. on Route 46 in the area of mile marker 13.6, Peele said.
A preliminary investigation revealed, that a Dodge Ram pickup was traveling westbound on Route 46 and a GMC Sierra towing a Coachmen Camper was traveling eastbound on Route 46. The Dodge crossed over into the eastbound lanes and struck the GMC head-on causing fatal injuries to the driver of the Dodge, Peele said.
The front seat passenger in the Dodge, the driver, front passenger and the left rear passenger in the GMC all suffered serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital. The right rear passenger of the GMC sustained non-life threatening injuries, Peele said.
Route 46 was closed for approximately 5 hours, Peele said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Peele said.
