1 dead following single-vehicle crash on I-80 in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Denville Township Sunday afternoon, New Jersey State Police Sergeant Lawrence Peele said.

The crash occurred at 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 80 eastbound in the area of milepost 39.8, Peele said.

A preliminary investigation reveled that a Honda Accord struck the concrete median barrier causing fatal injuries to the driver who was pronounced dead at the scene, Peele said.

The identity of the driver is being withheld pending notification to next of kin, Peele said.

The left two lanes of Interstate 80 east were closed for approximately 2 hours, Peele said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Peele said.
