1 injured after crash involving garbage truck in Hunterdon County

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) ─ One person was injured in a crash involving a garbage truck Tuesday morning in Hunterdon County, according to a post on the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad’s Facebook page.

The crash involving a car and a garbage truck occurred on June 27, at 11:47 a.m. on Route 31 near the Sonic Drive-In in Raritan Township, authorities said.

Upon arrival, crews found the driver of the car entrapped due to heavy driver’s side damage, the post said.

EMT’s initiated patient care while other crews stabilized the vehicle. The Holmatro hydraulic rescue tools were used to open and remove the driver’s door so that the patient could be carefully extricated from the vehicle, authorities said.

The driver was then transported to Hunterdon Medical Center for treatment of their injuries, the post said.

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the Raritan Township Police Department.
