1 killed, 1 injured in 3-vehicle crash in Warren County

HOPE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – New Jersey State police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Thursday morning in Warren County.

The crash happened at around 10:50 a.m. on County Route 521 near Dogwood Drive in Hope Township, New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Philip Curry said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Kenworth dump truck was traveling northbound on County Route 521, a Grumman Allied LLV U.S. Mail vehicle was traveling southbound and a Honda CRV, driven by Mary Ann Boatman, 69, of Great Meadows, was behind the U.S. Mail vehicle, Curry said.

The Kenworth dump then truck crossed the double yellow line, sideswiped the U.S. Mail vehicle and continued northbound before hitting the Honda head-on, Curry said.

Boatman suffered fatal injuries, the driver of the U.S. Mail vehicle was not injured and the driver of the dump truck suffered minor injuries, Curry said.

The road was closed for approximately 4 hours and the cause of the crash remains under investigation, Curry said.
