1 killed in Morris County crash

CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – One person is dead after a crash in Chatham Township Monday morning, according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.

The three vehicle crash happened at around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of Shunpike Road and Lafayette Avenue, Carroll said.

A Nissan Rouge had been traveling west on the roadway into the intersection, and struck a Jeep Wrangler traveling south. The Wrangler then impacted a box truck parked on the opposite side of the intersection, Carroll said.

The driver of the Wrangler, a 52-year old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are in the process of notifying the victim’s next of kin, Carroll said.

There were no other reported injuries and the crash remains under investigation, Carroll said.
