1 killed in wrong-way crash on I-80 in Morris County, state police say

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, NJ (Morris County) -The driver of a SUV died after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 80 in Morris County early Saturday morning, according New Jersey State Police spokesperson Trooper Charles Marchan.

The crash happened at 4:00 a.m. on Interstate 80 at milepost 46.2 in Parsippany-Troy Hills, Marchan said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Toyota Rav4 was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 when the Toyota struck a International tractor-trailer traveling eastbound head-on, Marchan said.

As a result of the crash, the driver of the Toyota sustained fatal injuries and the driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries, Marchan said.

The person who died will be identified when next-of-kin is notified.
