12-year-old girl seriously injured after being hit by vehicle in Sussex County

HAMBURG BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – A 12-year-old girl was flown to the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening in Hamburg Borough.

The crash happened at 5:21 p.m. near the intersection of County Route 517 and Mulberry Street, police said.

The girl was flown to Morristown Medical Center with serious injuries and is expected to survive, police said.

“At this time, the driver was not charged and the accident did not appear to be suspicious,” police said. 

The names of those involved in the crash were not released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hamburg Police Department with the assistance of the Sussex County Prosecutors Office, and the NJ State Police crash investigation team.

County Route 517 was closed between Route 23 and Heritage Lane for about four and half hours, police said.
