12-year-old seriously injured in crash on I-80 in Morris County, state police say

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A 12-year-old was seriously injured in a Saturday morning crash on Interstate 80 in Morris County, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Philip Curry.

The crash occurred at 1:17 a.m. on Interstate 80 westbound at milepost 38.2 in Denville Township, Curry said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that Kia passenger car was traveling on Interstate 80 westbound, entered the right shoulder and struck the rear of a Honda that was parked on the shoulder, Curry said.

The Honda was redirected off the right side of the road and impacted a metal guardrail, Curry said.

A 12-year-old passenger in the Honda suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Curry said.

The crash remains under investigation, Curry said.
