$1K reward offered in Hunterdon County hit-and-run that killed dog, injured child

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) –  The Hunterdon County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of a hit-and-run driver that injured a child and killed a dog on Friday, July 21, according to police.

The crash happened at around 9:02 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Whitehouse Avenue in Readington Township, police said.

The investigation revealed a juvenile male and dog were hit by a vehicle while utilizing the crosswalk. The child suffered a serious hand injury and the dog was killed, police said.

The original vehicle of interest was a newer body style Chevrolet Suburban SUV (12th Gen. 2021-Present model year) with a chrome grille and front window tint. No registration was known at the time, police said.

Police are now focusing their attention on a 2022/23 Ford Expedition Max, as a vehicle of interest, police said.

“We will continue to use all resources available to us to locate the striking party,” police said.
