2 firefighters sent to hospital battling 2-alarm fire in Hunterdon County

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Two firefighters were taken to the hospital after battling a two-alarm fire in Hunterdon County Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The garage fire was reported at 1:56 p.m. at a residence on Chelsea Circle in the Flemington South Estates development in Raritan Township, according to a post on the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad’s Facebook page.

Reports from caller’s indicated a working fire, which was confirmed by first arriving police officers, the post said.

A second-alarm was transmitted for additional resources and the fire was quickly contained. Significant overhaul was required to ensure extinguishment due to extension to the attic, authrotreis said.

Two firefighters were transported to Hunterdon Medical Center for evaluation of medical concerns, the post said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
