2 men arrested for possession of stolen property in Blairstown Twp.

BLAIRSTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Two men were arrested last month for possession of stolen property in Blairstown Township.

On June 30, officers responded to Four Corners Road for a report of suspicious activity. Officers made contact with the complainant, who advised officers that he had found a chainsaw in the woods and thought it may be from the previous burglary on his road, police said.

After leaving, officers observed a vehicle exiting an abandoned property and a man, later identified as Paul Prescott, walking down the road, police said.

Officers made contact with Prescott and he first stated he was “working out.” After a further investigation, Prescott allegedly admitted he was a passenger in the vehicle previously observed by the officers at the abandoned house police said.

Darl Westover arrived on location and officers read Westover his Miranda Rights, which he allegedly waived, and questioned him. Westover gave conflicting accounts to Prescott’s story, police said.

After a further investigation, Westover allegedly admitted he was the driver of the vehicle and had placed the chainsaw on someone’s property. He further admitted to allegedly being in possession of chainsaws previously reported stolen from a burglary on Four Corners Road.

Officers searched both men and located a glass pipe, used for smoking methamphetamine, on Westover.

Darl Westover and Paul Prescott were both charged with possession of stolen property. Westover was additionally charged with possession of paraphernalia.
