BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – Two rideshare passengers are facing drug charges in Byram Township.
On May 9, an officer observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 206. After the vehicle turned onto Brookwood Road, the vehicle crossed over the center line, police said.
The officer stopped the vehicle on Ross Road and while speaking to the driver of the vehicle, who was a ride-share service driver, the officer observed that the two passengers, who were identified as Darren J. Glass and Carver D. Parrish both of Byram Township, allegedly appeared to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.
A Morris County Sheriff’s Office narcotics K-9 unit responded to the scene and a search of the vehicle found a quantity of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. It was then determined that the walking stick that Glass was in possession of was also equipped with a taser, police said.
Glass was charged with third-degree possession of cocaine, fourth-degree certain persons to not possess weapons, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. He was then lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance, police said.
