2 seriously injured after car crashes into concrete barrier on I-80 in Morris County

MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Two people were seriously injured after a car crashed into a concrete barrier on Interstate 80 in Morris County Sunday morning, according to New Jersey State Police Sergeant Alejandro Goez.

The crash happened at 8:07 a.m. on Interstate 80 westbound at milepost 47.8 in Montville Township, Goez said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed a Kia Optima, driven by a 33-year-old man, went off the roadway to the left, entered the center median and struck a concrete barrier for the overpass, Goez said.

The driver and his 24-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries, Goez said.

The crash remains under investigation, Goez said.
