2 Sussex County men sentenced for child porn

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – Two Sussex County men have been sentenced on child pornography charges, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Annmarie Taggart.

Christopher Heddy, 41, and Stephen Lafollete, 60, both of Highland Lakes were sentenced on September 2 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courtroom in Newton, Taggart said.

Heddy and Lafollete were sentenced on first-degree endangering the welfare of a child (possession of child pornography) charges that they pled guilty to on February 16, Taggart said.

Both were sentenced to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison. They must also register pursuant to Megan’s Law, submit DNA samples, forfeit any and all electronic devices, and abide by internet restrictions. Individually, they are to pay fines and fees of over $2,000 each, Taggart said.

Both admitted to viewing child pornography that they had on their personal computers, each possessing over 100,000 items depicting the sexual exploitation or abuse of a child, Taggart said.

Heddy was represented by Elizabeth Smith, Esq., Lafollete was represented by Bruce Farrier, Esq., and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
