3 injured following single-vehicle crash on I-78 in Hunterdon County

UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Three people were transported to the hospital, one with serious injuries, following a single-vehicle crash Thursday night in Hunterdon County, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Alejandro Goez.

It happened at 6:13 p.m. on Interstate 78 eastbound at mile marker 15.1 in Union Township, Goez said.

According to Goez, a 2010 Chevy Tahoe pulling a Lance Travel Trailer, driven by a 49-year-old man from East Stroudsburg, PA, was traveling east on Interstate 78 when the vehicle went off the roadway into the grass median, overturned, and struck the center median guardrail.

The driver and front seat passenger, a 49-year-old man from Port St. Lucie, FL, sustained moderate injuries, Goez said.

The backseat passenger, a 37-year-old woman from Mastic, NY, sustained serious injuries, Goez said.

Two eastbound lanes were closed for two and half hours, Goez said.

The crash remains under investigation, Goez said.
