MORRISTOWN, NJ (Morris County) – Three new Morris County Sheriff’s officers were sworn in on Tuesday.
An official swearing in ceremony presided by Sheriff James M. Gannon saw the new officers take their oath of office, receive their Office identification, and were presented with their commissions of service to the people of Morris County.
Sheriff’s Officer Sean Silvernagel, Sheriff’s Officer Dominick Nicastro, and Sheriff’s Officer Joshua Acevedo were sworn in before their family, friends, and fellow officers.
Officer Silvernagel hails from Lincoln Park. He has a Bachelor’s in Justice Studies from Montclair State University. Prior to his employment with the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, he started his law enforcement career as a SLEO II in North Wildwood.
Officer Nicastro is from Rockaway and before his employment the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Law Enforcement, he worked for the Bureau of Corrections. While working for corrections he was assigned to the Warrants Section of the Sheriff’s Office. Outside of work, Officer Nicastro is an active volunteer and member of several civic organizations.
Officer Acevedo was born and raised the Bronx, NY. He started his Law Enforcement Career with the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office Department of Corrections, then transferred to Morris County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Corrections. He is excited to begin his service with the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Gannon welcomed all in attendance and congratulated the three new officers as they embark on a new chapter of their lives. He also highlighted the work in law enforcement is at times warrior like, and at most times fulfilling the role of the guardian for those less fortunate or perhaps vulnerable. However, at all times focused on moving all situations towards peace for everyone involved.
“The Morris County Sheriff’s Office bid all three new officers good luck,” Gannon said.
