5 injured, 1 flown to hospital after crash in Hunterdon County

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Five people were injured in a crash in Hunterdon County on Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened at around 2:14 p.m. on Route 202 South in the area of Northlandz in Raritan Township, according to Raritan Township Police Lieutenant Scott Nelson.

It was reported that a car had exited the southbound lane of the highway, went airborne, and struck several vehicles in the parking lot of Northlandz, causing injuries to five people and one of those injured was trapped in the vehicle, Nelson said.

One adult and three juveniles were transported by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. Another adult was flown to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, Nelson said.

An investigation was conducted into the collision and a 59-year-old Connecticut man was issued traffic summonses for failure to maintain lane and careless driving, Nelson said.

“Investigation is ongoing and no criminal charges have been filed in this matter, at this time,” Nelson said.

Raritan Township Police along with Flemington Borough Police, New Jersey State Police, Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad, Whitehouse Rescue Squad, Hunterdon Medical Center Paramedics, Raritan Township Fire Company and Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office responded to the scene to provide aid and investigative services.
