Driver charged with DWI after striking light pole in Hunterdon County

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A man has been charged with DWI among other offenses after allegedly hitting a light pole Sunday afternoon in Readington Township.

On April 9, at around 12:03 p.m., police responded to Pulaski Road for report of a motor vehicle accident, police said.

Upon arrival, officers observed a small sedan that had ran off the roadway and split a light pole in half, police said.

The driver, who was later identified as Joseph Reilly, allegedly had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath, police said.

Reilly conducted field sobriety tests and was then arrested. He was charged with DWI, reckless driving and careless driving, police said.
