Man arrested for lewd acts in Somerset County

HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County)  – A Somerset County man has been arrested in relation to indecent exposure incidents that occurred in Hillsborough Township, according to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald.

On March 22, at around 10:15 p.m., police responded to the area of Meadowbrook Drive on a report of an indecent exposure involving an unknown male, McDonald said.

Officers contacted a resident on Meadowbrook Drive, who reported to officers that he had been alerted and observed an unknown male masturbating on his property which was captured on his home surveillance camera.

Officers canvassed the area but were unsuccessful in locating the individual. Officers were able to confirm the incident by viewing the surveillance footage. The suspect was described as a fair skinned Caucasian male, who was wearing what appeared to be a bandana on his head, no shirt, and underwear when the act occurred, McDonald said.

During this investigation detectives determined that the incident that occurred on March 22, was related to two additional incidents of indecent exposure which occurred in Hillsborough Township on Sept. 14, 2018, and on Nov. 1, 2018, McDonald said.

On Sept. 14, 2018, at around 10:00 p.m., a naked male was observed on surveillance video near the rear door and in the front of a residence on Triangle Road. The light-skinned male appeared to be wearing a black wig, black shoes, and a black cloth covering his face, McDonald said.

Then on Nov. 1, 2018, at around 7:00 p.m., a resident of Meadowbrook Drive reported that she observed a naked male at the back door of her residence. The individual was captured on surveillance video at the residence and was observed peering into the house. He was described as a light-skinned male wearing a black wig, black shoes with white stripes, and a bandana covering his face, McDonald said.

As a result of this investigation, detectives identified Bernandino Gonzalez Lorenzana, 36, Hillsborough Township as a suspect, McDonald said.

On Thursday, April 6, Lorenzana was taken into custody in Hillsborough Township and transported to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office where he was arrested and charged with three counts of fourth-degree peering, two counts of fourth-degree lewdness, and one count disorderly persons’ offense of lewdness, McDonald said.

Lorenzana was transported to the Somerset County Jail where he was lodged pending a detention hearing, McDonald said.
