Accused drunk driver hits McDonald’s sign in Sussex County

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County woman was arrested for drunk driving after police said she crashed into the McDonald’s sign Wednesday night in Byram Township.

On Oct. 11, at 9:13 p.m., police responded to McDonald’s for a report of a vehicle that struck the McDonald’s sign. When the officer arrived, he located the driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Lindsey M. Krakowiak, 37, of Stanhope Borough, and appeared to be intoxicated, police said.

Krakowiak was asked to perform several field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was then arrested and transported to the station where she consented to and failed two breath tests, police said.

Krakowiak was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, careless driving, reckless driving, failure to possess a registration card, and failure to possess an insurance card.

Krakowiak was released pending a court appearance, police said.
