Allamuchy firefighters extinguish car fire on I-80

ALLAMUCHY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Allamuchy firefighters extinguished a fully-involved car fire Tuesday evening on Interstate 80, authorities said.

On July 20, at around 6:00 p.m., the Allamuchy Fire Department was requested to Interstate 80 eastbound near mile marker 18.0 for a possible vehicle fire, according to a post on the rescue squad’s Facebook page.

Upon approach to the area, the fire chief observed visible smoke header and flames from the vehicle and immediately notified dispatch, along with Engine 61, that the vehicle was fully involved, the post said.

A hand line was stretched to the vehicle and the crew began extinguishing the flames. Tanker 91-71 and Heavy Rescue 91-75 provided traffic blocks and support for members operating at the scene, according to the post.

All units were clear approximately an hour later, the post said.
