Atlantic Health System achievements from Healthgrades grow as Chilton Medical Center added to America’s 250 Best Hospitals

PEQUANNOCK TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Atlantic Health System’s Chilton Medical Center Tuesday was named for the first time as one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals for 2023, according to new research released by Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients.

This achievement puts Chilton in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance across the most common conditions and procedures.

Chilton’s inclusion among the Healthgrades list of the 250 Best Hospitals adds to Atlantic Health System’s recognition by Healthgrades, as its sister hospitals, Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center (located in Summit, NJ), were again named among America’s 50 Best Hospitals for the eighth consecutive and fourth consecutive year respectively. These achievements put Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center among the top 1% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance across the most common conditions and procedures.

Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center are the only two hospitals in New Jersey named among America’s 50 Best Hospitals in 2023.

Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top-performing hospitals. This year’s analysis revealed significant variation between America’s 250 Best Hospitals and hospitals that did not receive the distinction. In fact, if all hospitals performed similarly to America’s 250 Best, more than 160,000 lives could have been saved.
