Atlantic Health System launches Palliative Care Learning Collaborative sponsored by Marquis Health Consulting Services
$100K Donation Supports Education Initiative for Skilled Nursing Professionals
MORRISTOWN, NJ (Morris County) – Atlantic Health System this summer launched a Community Palliative Care Learning Collaborative (C-PCLC) developed with financial support from Marquis Health Consulting Services and led by a team of Atlantic Health System palliative care and integrated care experts.
The initiative aims to provide resources to educate and empower skilled nursing healthcare professionals, supporting expanded access to palliative care in skilled nursing settings.
Nearly 20 New Jersey skilled nursing facilities are participating in the year-long C-PCLC program, which ultimately supports community partners in fulfilling state legislation requiring access to palliative care. Marquis’ $100,000 grant is funding all aspects of the initiative, from overall planning; to the development of a proprietary web-based portal; to the creation of print/video content, webinars and other educational materials; to quarterly training events.
“Marquis Health Consulting Services is pleased to support this incredibly meaningful work being put forth by Atlantic Health System,” said Norman Rokeach, founder and president of Marquis Ltd. “Improved knowledge, education and collaboration within palliative care represents a great opportunity for all. Working together we can make a difference.”
Palliative care is a specialized medical model for people living with a serious illness. It focuses on relieving symptoms and stress, with the goal to improve quality of life for both the patient and their loved ones. Palliative care often accompanies curative treatment and is administered by a trained team of doctors, nurses and specialists.
Atlantic Health System’s C-PCLC will also serve as a development model for expanded use.
“As a system, we are consistently looking to transform how we deliver care to ensure we are achieving the best outcomes for both our patients and their loved ones,” said Yvette Vieira, manager, Palliative Care and Bioethics, Atlantic Health System. “Thanks to this support, we are able to provide a more seamless continuum of care across all services with our post-acute partners.”
Based in Brick, N.J., Marquis Health Consulting Services is a highly skilled and vision-driven nursing home consulting company currently supporting Mid-Atlantic and New England facilities totaling nearly 6,000 skilled nursing and assisted living beds.
