Authorities investigate theft from mailbox outside post office

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Authorities are investigating the theft of mail from a mailbox right outside a post office in Denville Township.

Denville police were made aware by the US Postal Police that the mail inside the blue mailbox outside of the Denville Post Office, located on Clark Street, was taken by unknown suspect(s) between Sept. 14 at 3:30 p.m. and Sept. 16 at 9:00 a.m., police said.

Anyone who placed mail in this outside mailbox between those hours and mailed any items that were financially related (i.e. checks, credit card paperwork, etc.), is urged to check their banking and credit card companies for any fraudulent activities, police said.

If you discover that you have any fraudulent activity on any of your accounts and that you were a victim of this crime, please contact the Denville Police Department at 973-627-4900 to file a report.
