Blairstown Township Police Department swears in new officer
BLAIRSTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – During the Blairstown Township Committee meeting Wednesday night, Officer Thomas Tutka was sworn-in as their newest police officer.
Officer Tutka began his career with the Warren Residential Community Home of Juvenile Justice Commission as a State of NJ Youth Worker from March 2016 to March of 2019. His responsibilities included observing and documenting juveniles that resided at the home. He would also try to help residents to change their self-living and decisions when released back into the community.
January 2018, Officer Tutka was employed by the Warren County Communications Center as a 911 Telecommunicator. His responsibilities included receiving 911 calls. Question callers to obtain information needed to determine an appropriate course of action. Dispatch Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement to calls of service.
March 2019, Officer Tutka started employment with the New Jersey Department of Corrections as a Correctional Police Officer. His responsibilities included providing safety and security of the jail, preservation of life of inmates and civilians’, and enforce the rules and regulations of the correctional facility.
September 2021, Officer Tutka was hired by the Belvidere Police Department as a Police Officer. He attended the Essex County Police Academy in October of 2021. After graduating the academy, he was assigned to patrol and his duties included responding to 911 calls, conducting motor vehicle stops, enforcing laws, and serving the community of Belvidere.
