Blairstown Twp. woman bitten by rabid fox; fox killed

BLAIRSTOWN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A gray fox bit an 82-year-old Blairstown woman Saturday night sending her to the hospital.

The incident happened at 6:33 p.m. at a residence on Golden Chain Road in Blairstown Township, according to State Police spokesman Trooper Alejandro Goez.

The fox then went after a family member who then killed the fox, Blairstown Township police said in a Facebook post.

The woman suffered injuries and was taken to Newton Medical Center, Goez said. The resident is being treated for rabies.

The fox was sent to Trenton for testing and the result came back Wednesday that the fox was rabid, according to ACO Scott Hendricks.
