Board of election asks Warren County residents to verify vote-by-mail status
WARREN COUNTY, NJ – The New Jersey Division of Elections has informed the Warren County Board of Elections and the Warren County Clerk that there have been two mass mailings to Warren County residents to encourage them to register to vote and to vote-by-mail.
The mailings are from either the Voter Participation Center or the Center for Voter Information.
These groups failed to cross-reference existing voter registration and vote-by-mail list. Many residents who are already registered and/or already enrolled in the vote-by-mail program are the mailing(s), which is causing voter confusion, according to the Warren County Board of Elections.
Before completing the voter registration form and sending it in to the Warren County Board of Elections, verify if and where you are a registered voter in New Jersey. To verify, click here.
“The Voter Participation Center and Center for Voter Information are dedicated to helping New Jersey voters participate in democracy. Before sending our mailings, we make every effort to remove people we know have already requested ballots. We removed anybody indicated as a Permanent Absentee Voter in voter file records, as well as anyone indicated as having requested a General Election Ballot in addition to their ballot for the primary election,” Tom Lopach, CEO, Voter Participation Center and Center for Voter Information said.
In addition, our mailings include a disclaimer in the upper right corner that clearly states: ‘If you’ve already requested a Vote-by-Mail Ballot for the General Election on November 7th, 2023 or if you are on the permanent vote-by-mail list, there is no need to request again. You only need to ask for a ballot once per election or be on the permanent vote-by-mail list,” Lopach said.
