Body of man recovered from Lake Hopatcong

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – New Jersey State Police are investigating the death of a man recovered from Lake Hopatcong Tuesday night, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Philip Curry.

Troopers responded to a marina on Lake Hopatcong on Brady Road in Jefferson Twp. at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday night for the report of a missing person, Curry said.

An unoccupied Cris Craft boat was observed partially tied to the dock with the motor running, Curry said.

In the area of the vessel, the NJ State Police T.E.A.M.S. Unit divers recovered the body of a 76-year-old man who was located submerged just below the surface of the water, Curry said.

This incident currently remains under investigation.
