Boonton Township police investigating string of criminal mischief incidents

BOONTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Township police are investigating a string of criminal mischief incidents at the Rockaway Valley Aerodrome Fields, police said.

“Over the course of the past several weeks, BTPD has taken several reports of criminal mischief at the RVA fields,” police said.

One incident was discovered on the morning of May 11, when police discovered damage to an equipment shed located on the fields. Several windows on the shed had been broken, and the window screens were also cut out of the shed, police said.

“It is unknown if the suspects gained access to the shed, however it does not appear that anything was stolen,” police said.

On several other occasions, police discovered damage to the field pavilion, and recently the lighting fixtures were tampered with at the 9/11 memorial, police said.

All of these incidents are currently under investigation and anyone with information, is urged to contact the  Boonton Township Police Department Detective Bureau at 973-402-9371.
