Burglars scared off by dog at Morris County home
FLORHAM PARK BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – A dog scared away burglars who entered a home in Morris County early Wednesday morning.
On August 17, multiple suspects attempted to enter vehicles and homes in the Edgewood Road and Circle Road section of Florham Park Borough, police said.
The suspects located an open vehicle in one driveway, used the garage door opener to open the garage to the residence, and entered the home’s mudroom before being scared away by the owner’s dog, police said.
“Had there not been a dog in the home the suspects likely would have searched the interior of the home for the vehicle keys creating a highly dangerous situation for the homeowners,” police said.
The same suspects attempted to enter another residence through the home’s rear sliding doors but the doors were locked, police said.
The suspects were also observed in several other Morris County jurisdictions attempting to commit similar crimes, police said.
“These are very dangerous, potential weapon wielding, criminals, with no regard for our residents or our officers’ safety or well being,” police said.
“These incidents once again underscore the importance of all residents to play their role in maintaining community public safety by locking and securing your vehicles and homes at all times,” police said.
