
Bust after truck Inspection nets pounds of weed, handgun on I-78 in Warren County
ALPHA BOROUGH, NJ (Warren County) – It started with the inspection of a commercial truck on I-78 in Warren County and ended with two arrests and pounds of marijuana and a handgun seized, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office.
On Monday, Nov. 13, the New Jersey State Police conducted a commercial vehicle inspection on Interstate 78 in Alpha Borough, authorities said.
The inspection led to a search of the truck that Corey B. Young, 38, of Brooks, KY was driving, along with the trailer he was towing, the prosecutor’s office said.
As a result of the search, 179 pounds of marijuana was discovered, along with a loaded handgun and large capacity magazine, authorities said.
The marijuana seized has a street value of more than $250,000, the prosecutor’s office said.
Young was charged with first-degree possession with intent to distribute marijuana, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, second-0degree possession of a firearm during CDS offense, second-degree certain persons not to possess firearms, fourth-degree possession of a large capacity magazine, fourth-degree unlawful transportation of a firearm, fourth-degree unlawful transportation of a large capacity magazine, and fourth-degree possession of marijuana in excess of 50 grams.
Young’s passenger, Tracy Davenport, 49, of Simpsonville, KY was charged with first-degree possession wit intent to distribute marijuana, and fourth-degree possession of marijuana in excess of 50 grams.
