Congressman Kean applauds passage of Secure the Border Act of 2023
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The House passed H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023, on Thursday which would fix the broken asylum system, hire more Border Patrol agents, and provide them with resources they need, reinstate policies such as Remain in Mexico, and force the Biden Administration to resume building the border wall, said Rep. Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07).
The passage of this legislation comes just hours before Title 42 is set to expire, which is widely expected to worsen the border crisis, Kean, Jr. said.
“Today the House passed the single strongest border security bill in our history. This legislation takes on the drug traffickers, human smugglers, those on the terror watch list, and any criminals who wish to do our communities harm. We are fulfilling our duty to protect the homeland and her people. With this legislation, America will continue to shine bright for those across the world who seek the American Dream, while still supporting a robust system of legal immigration that upholds and respects the rule of law,” said Kean, Jr.
