Congressman Kean issues statement on voting to impeach Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) issued the following statement after voting to impeach US Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:

“The federal government’s primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and security of the homeland. It is with this duty in mind that I voted to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. I believe his actions, from the very moment he took office, were a willful and systemic refusal to comply with federal law and a clear breach of public trust. The Secretary has led the complete failure to address the challenges at the border in a manner consistent with the laws governing immigration and border security. Our constituents and the American people deserve a more effective and secure border.”

Kean previously voted in favor of impeaching Secretary Mayorkas on Feb. 6, 2023.
