DeGroot announces his campaign is continuing to the June GOP primary
MONTVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Republican Morris County Commissioner candidate Paul DeGroot has announced he is continuing his campaign to the June Primary Election.
DeGroot filed his petition Tuesday with the Morris County Clerk’s office.
DeGroot stated his reason for continuing his campaign, “I believe that the Republican voters of Morris County should select their candidate and not a select group of insiders. Therefore, I will be continuing my campaign to the June Primary to allow all the voters to decide.”
“I am a lifelong Republican, and I chose to run because I believe I can do a better job than the incumbent seeking re-election this year. As a career prosecutor, I have worked with government officials on the local, county, state, and federal levels and have navigated the bureaucracy to get things done. I have overseen multi-million-dollar departmental budgets, investigated conflicts, and built consensus. I will use these skills on the Commissioner Board,” DeGroot said.
After 25 years of public service in which his job prohibited him from participating in politics, DeGroot wants to serve the people of Morris County to ensure that the reasons he moved to Morris County remain. “I moved here 10 years ago for good governance, Republican leadership, good schools, open space, a great park system, and the overall quality of life.”
DeGroot and his wife Sharon have a 2-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son. Being the father of two young children gives him a unique perspective that is not currently represented on the Board of Commissioners.
