Disabled vehicle leads to DWI arrest in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A disabled vehicle on Route 46 in Denville Township led to a charge of driving while intoxicated on Wednesday.

On April 12, at around 12:45 p.m., police responded to a report of disabled motor vehicle on Route 46 in which the driver was also bothering patrons at a local business, police said.

After a short investigation, it was determined that the driver, who was identified as Douglas Schultz, had allegedly operated his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A subsequent search of Schultz’s vehicle also located an open container of an alcoholic beverage, police said.

Schultz was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, and open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
