Dog dies in 2-alarm house fire in Byram Twp

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – Firefighters say a dog died, but no people were hurt Tuesday morning after a two-alarm house fire in Byram Township.

The fire was reported at around 7:46 a.m. at a residence on Winding Way.

While firefighters were responding, Byram Township Police Department were on scene confirming a working fire and there was possible entrapment. A second alarm was requested bringing additional resources to the scene.

The homeowner was determined not to be home.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down quickly but due to a partial collapse it took longer to place the fire under control.

The fire remains under investigation by the Byram Police Department, Sparta Fire Official and the Sussex County Fire Marshal’s Office.
