Donaldson’s Greenhouse and Nursery participates in ‘Trees for Troops’

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Donaldson’s Greenhouse and Nursery is making sure that United States armed forces members have Christmas trees with the annual “Trees for Troops” program.

Trees for Troops, is a program of the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, provides free, farm-grown Christmas trees to United States armed forces members in all branches of the military and their families, through donations, sponsorships, grants and the work of many volunteers.

Christmas tree growers have been providing free trees for military families for years. In 2005, FedEx contacted the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, the charitable branch of the National Christmas Tree Association, and wanted to be involved in the foundation’s mission. Together the two organizations expanded the idea of providing Christmas Trees to military families, and Trees for Troops was born.

Donaldson’s Greenhouse and Nursery, located at 178 Airport Road, has been taking part in the Trees for Troops program since 2016 and with help from the generous customers they have provided hundreds of trees to service men and women.

For a $40.00 donation, your tree will be wrapped with the opportunity to send your holiday wishes with an attached card. Trees will be picked up by a FedEx tractor-trailer and delivered to one of more than 80 bases requesting trees this year.

Donate a tree by calling 908-852-7314 or stop by the greenhouse now through Dec. 5.
