Driver charged with DWI after crashing into utility pole in Hackettstown

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) – A Warren County women was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with driving while intoxicated after she crashed into a utility pole in Hackettstown, police said.

On March 3, at around 3:19 a.m., police responded to the area of 299 Mountain Avenue for a single-vehicle crash, police said.

While enroute officers were advised that the vehicle had struck a pole and that there were power lines hanging low, blocking all traffic on Mountain Avenue. Upon arrival, police observed a dark-colored SUV with heavy front-end damage and airbag deployment, police said.

The driver, who was identified as Stephanie Pietraszkiewicz, 41, of Independence Township, was outside the vehicle and suffered a minor injury. Officers allegedly detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, police said.

Pietraszkiewicz was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath samples, unsafe lane change, reckless driving, and failure to possess insurance card. She was then released pending a court appearance, police said.

Mountain Avenue between Route 57 and Shelley Drive was closed for several hours while Jersey Central Power & Light made repairs, police said.
